We are currently seeking a talented Wok Chef to join our team.

POSITION SUMMARY

A Wok Chef at Light Years Asian Diner is responsible for preparing food to exact specifications and standards while also setting up stations for the menu. You will take ownership of your section. Guiding junior chefs and having a good understanding of all the sections in the kitchen, working under the direction of the Head Chef and Sous Chef.  The role involves setting up and stocking stations, maintaining a positive and professional approach, and executing tasks with accuracy and speed.

ABOUT YOU

  • Sound communication skills.
  • 3+ years Experience in a fast paced, high volume venue (essential)
  • Wok experience (essential)
  • A positive approach to other team members and FOH staff
  • Experience with asian ingredients preferred but not essential
  • Be both punctual and reliable
  • Work well under pressure
  • Cook and prepare dishes as per company specifications
  • Maintain food and hygiene standards
  • Being able to follow recipes and specs to a company standard

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Kitchen Standards – To maintain company standards of quality, service, presentation and cleanliness.
  • Training of Staff  – Responsible for coaching and developing junior staff if directed by the head chef.
  • Taking an active role in communication for the BOH and FOH when on the pass.
  • Ensure that all staff receive the required training in compliance with all statutory and company procedures.
  • Development & Guidance – Ongoing training within BOH team and continue to train new staff in accordance to kitchen standard.
  • Food Safety – Must ensure all Kitchen Staff are trained and working in accordance with the Light Years Standard & Food safety program. Reviewing Data collected on Jolt & managing all OHS aspects of the business.
  • Audits – to work towards high scores in all inspections and audits.
  • Team Work –  work together with your fellow managers, to ensure that your restaurant achieves its full potential as an individual business and as part of the Light Years Group.
