Step into the palm filled oasis of Light Years Newcastle! Located on Darby Street in a beautiful art deco building complete with double height ceilings and an abundance of natural light. Here you’ll find custom curved booths, large long tables for groups and an oversized pink marble bar for diners and drinkers who like to watch the bar-tenders in action.
Find your seat and settle in for a feast of delicious modern Asian cuisine. Wash it all down with punchy cocktails and a well thought out wine list.

Please note, there is 10% Sunday surcharge , and 15% Public Holiday surcharge. All credit cards incur a 1.5% surcharge.
Walk-ins
While we recommend reserving your table in advance, we always leave a handful of seats aside for walk-ins. Note, these spaces tend to favour two seaters during the busier periods.
Accessibility
Light Years Newcastle is both wheelchair and disability friendly. The wheelchair accessible restroom located on the left hand side of our rest room. Feel free to give us a call for further information or on arrival request assistance from our hosts. We also recommend making a note of any specific needs at the time of your booking so we can prepare your table in advance.
Can I bring my dog?
Sadly we don’t have outside seating to cater for our four legged friends.

Parking
There is paid parking on both Darby Street and the surrounding streets of Light Years Newcastle.
Cake & decorations
We love a celebration! Cakes are welcome, we do not charge a cake cutting fee. If you are looking to bring in decorations such as florals please discuss this in advance with the venue directly.
No confetti or glitter is permitted in the venue.
Set menus
For tables of 8 or more guests you will be required to dine from one of our banquet menus.
For tables of 20 or more guests you will be required to dine on the ‘Premium Selection’ banquet menu only.
Children under 12 are exempt from the banquet and welcome to dine from the kid’s menu. However, they are still included in the total number of guests. For example, a table of 8, including 2 children, the adults will still be required to select from the banquet menus.
Dietary requirements can be catered for with advance notice.

We are able to cater for most dietary requirements. Please make sure you leave a note when making your booking or give us a call prior to your visit.
Note, while we take the upmost care to cater for your individual needs, and have protocols in place to limit cross contamination, we cannot guarantee zero risk of exposure to allergens.
